OpsWise Server Technology

OpsWise Automation Center is a J2EE Application that resides within a J2EE Application Server, such as Apache Tomcat. Due to this portability, Automation Center is highly flexible as to the platforms it can run on including: Linux, Windows, UNIX, and z/OS.

Taking advantage of the latest versions of JAVA, Automation Center supports JAVA 1.5 and JAVA 1.6.

All data resides within a relational database. Databases supported include MySQL, MIcrosoft SQL Server, Oracle, and DB/2.

High Availability via Clustering

At OpsWise, we try and make our technology as bullet-proof as possible. Our Server and mid-tier technology can be clustered for high availability by having two or more servers in a cluster. Failover is nearly instantaneous, and there's no need to reset the system once the primary node comes back on-line.

Connect via ANY Web Browser

We may have the look & feel of an application, but our Web 2.0 interface is pure HTML & JAVA Script. No client-side Applet to download. Works with ALL leading Internet Web Browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. 100% of all user and administrative functions are provided by this interface.

Connect with lightweight devices such as PDA's and Mobile Telephones.

Mid-Tier & Agent Technology

Our Mid-Tier (called the Transporter) technology is C/C++ based with no JVM to configure. The Transporter routes messages between the server and the agents via TCP/IP over FIPS 140-2 compliant SSL. We require only a single port through the firewall to communicate with your entire network of agents. The mid-tier can be set up in a fault-tolerant configuration to provide high availability.

Like our mid-tier, our Agents are also C/C++-based and require no JVM. The Agents submit workload to the operating system, either under the user credentials it runs under, or as another user. It monitor for file changes on the operating system, and transfers files via FTP.

We try and make it easy to get up and running quickly. The agent auto-registers with the manager. No awkward two-sided configuration. Also, you can share a common set of binaries on a network, so you don't need to deploy on every single server.

Communications end-to-end are secure, we use OpenSSL. We pre-package certificates or you can use your own. OpsWise continually monitors the health of agents, and flag those that are not functional, and you can re-route work to functioning agents. If an Agent fails, we have a guardian process that will bring it back up.
